The First Asian Beach Games in Bali

Another historical event will take place in October 2008 at the beautiful island of Bali. This event will be called the First Asian Beach Games. The event is about sports competition related to the beach and it’s the first of its kind. As of today there are already 45 countries from Asia that confirmed their participation in the game with Tajikistan, Bhutan, and Kazakhstan being the latest participants.

With a total of 1.500 athletes registered at the game the game will surely be spectacular and not to be missed. So if you’ve planned on going to Bali make sure to visit the game between October 16 – 26, 2008.

The event will be divided into several area clusters with each cluster competing specific sport disciplines. The clusters are:

  • Kuta Beach Cluster
    Three sport disciplines will compete in this cluster, they are Body Building, Dragon Boat Racing, and the sport that made Kuta famous for, Surfing.
  • Nusa Dua – Benoa Cluster
    This cluster will feature Water Polo, Beach Kabaddi, Beach Basketball, Beach Wrestling, Beach Pencak Silat, Jetski Sport, Paragliding, and Woodball.
  • Sanur Beach Cluster
    This cluster will feature Beach Volleyball, Beach Sepaktakraw, Beach Handball, Beach Soccer
    Marathon Swimming, and the-not-to-be-missed-game Triathlon.
  • Serangan Island Cluster
    This cluster is located on Serangan Island and will feature Sailing and Windsurfing.
