EU Flight Ban Extended
Since 2007 EU has decided to ban all flights from Indonesian airlines. The EU flight commision said that because of the booming in cheap flights in Indonesia, safety has been neglected due to the low price the airlines are offering. Since that time Indonesian airlines had already try to make it up to the EU standards as hard as they could, but only to find out the flight ban is being extended.
It’s true that local airlines in Indonesia are strying to compete with each other and trying to gain new customers and trusts, and of the way they decide to take on was to lower the price of airline tickets. The low cost airlines did have an impact in increasing the number of people trying to travel around with airplanes, but those low price (too low probably) are not without consequences.
Airship maintenance has been reduced greatly in order to obtain lower outcome and giving low price service. On board snacks were striked out from the list and many more “efficiency” in order to give cheap price with acceptable profit for the airline company. That’s what’s going on here in Indonesia, cheap price mostly ignore quality of the service.
But the downgrade of the service are acceptableby most Indonesian people as they only wished to be able to travel faster and cheaper for short distant trips. But with the low budget for airplane maintenance because the manager had to take as many profits as possible then it’s the traveller’s safety who are at risk.
With low maintenance airplanes would be out of service easily, but the thing about airplanes is that they got to be in their perfect condition or else they would fall down to the earth and will cause the inevitable death of all its passengers and crews. I’m sure travellers would spend for a few more money to guarantee their own safety.
Not every airlines are following this price-war trend, the Garuda Indonesia is still the most notable airlines from Indonesia. This goverment-own airline offers a bit more on the price tag with the same route as other cheap airlines would offer but still if I had the money and not in an emergency situation I would take a flight with Garuda Indonesia.
I hope to see that in a few months ahead there will be a flight route from Indonesia to countries in Europe.
