Dreamland Beach, Bali
Forty five minutes traveling from Denpasar, the capital city of Bali, and surrounded by magnificent high cliffs in Pecatu you would find another surfer heaven, Dreamland Beach. This white sand beach has now become a new alternative to Kuta Beach with its quite atmosphere and less crowded than Kuta.
If you’re seeking a natural awe which comes from the beach, then you wouldn’t be disappointed, some tourists I have asked about their opinion said that Dreamland is more beautiful than Kuta, maybe Dreamland beauty is more like wiping off your windshield analogy, the more dust you wipe off the more you can see, the dust I mentioned here are people. But who knows.. I do think so too.
Some folktale said that the name Dreamland was given to the beach when the Pecatu Graha project started at the Suharto regime. The locals were looking forward to the project as it will benefit the locals with more income which comes from tourism. That’s why the locals called it Dreamland, well that’s how the rumors were.
Nowdays the region near this beach is being developed, and when it’s completed you would find Dreamland with resorts complete with 18 holes golf course shopping mall, restaurants, and many more. So in the near future the quite atmosphere will dissapear and will look more alike to Kuta.
With a gate entrance fee of Rp 10,000 and (about US$ 1.2) a hot parking lot you won’t see the beach right away. You’ll have to walk through the bright hot sunrays, and steep steps to hear the sound of waves calling. But all you’re trouble will be washed away by this beach’s beauty.
The region has a few cottages for you to rent, and many of them are occupied by surfers. The price starts from Rp 500,000 or equivalent to $52 per night, the price will vary depending on the view the cottage has. The sounds of the waves at night would be your daily lullabies when staying at theese cottages, a romantic atmosphere can’t be helped.
White sand, corals, waves, magnificent view alongside with blue water and a good wind breeze would made you think you were in a dream.
Don’t forget to bring your surfboards folks, or you could rent one. This beach is one surfspot you don’t want to miss. But if you’re looking for some swimming fun or snorkling you’ll be dissapointed, it’s to dangerous swimming in this area.
