visit-indonesia

The year 2008 means very big for Indonesian, the year 2008 is where the Indonesian celebrates the 100 years of the national ascension (kebangkitan nasional) from the colonialism that had been conquering the Indonesian soil in the last hundred years. The motion that was lead by Dr.Soetomo in 1908 was the turning point of the Indonesian history that would lead to the Indonesian freedom and independence.

With the spirits of celebration the Indonesian government started a program called Visit Indonesia Year 2008 started early this year. The program is intended to promote the diversity of Indonesian culture and its potential in tourism while trying to rival similar program from the Malaysian government. Even though the program is reviewed as being too late by most Indonesian (especially compared to other similar program in the neighboring countries), the program is a better option than never.

The TV commercial had been airing in many countries potential of bringing travelers and tourists from their country. As you can see in the trailer, the trailer is opened with a traditional ceremony of Nias called Lompat Batu (Stone Jump), in earlier time the ceremony purpose was to measure one’s ability for war, and then followed by other cultural display as well from Papua. Check out the Visit Indonesia Year 2008 official website, and the agenda of the program in June 2008.
